The God

The God of the Witches is as similar to the one found in the Old or New Teastament of the Bible as I am to my mother's aunt's grandmother five times removed.  In other words, they are both male and they might have some similar characteristics.  But there it ends. God is not just Father, he is Mate, Consort, Lover, Friend, Brother, Hunter, Husband, Law-giver, and Partner.

He wears many faces and has many names.  In these pages we will explore some aspects of the Face of God.

We have a variety of articles for you ...  'Meeting Your Own Dad God', which is a meditation in which we confront, and forgive our fathers, a short essasy on Dionysus and the cultivation of wine, a piece on Priapus, a Hymn to Hermes from Homer, and a poem from (of all people!) Robert Frost about Pan.

Karen Kahn Wilson's essay "The Men's Movement:  One Woman's Eye View" should be thought-provoking for you, while Brad Miller's essay "Witchcraft and the Masculine: Thoughts on the God" is as interesting, but from a different point of view, and Christopher Blackwell's Sacred Phallus is yet another perspective. Melanie Fire Salamander's Hunting the Hunter was one of the first pieces I ever read that allowed me to see the face of God that I have known for years, and Janus' ritual 'Roots of the God' made Him accessible.

Finally, I offer you God images.  They are from a variety of sources.
