Wiccan History

(Official Disclaimer:  This page will probably be one of the most controversial pages on this website.  Please do not write to me and tell me 'so and so is wrong' or ask how I could publish...?  I am not a historian, I am publishing information from a variety of sources, people who have more of an interest in the History of Wicca than I.  If you disagree, contact the authors.  If you have a differeing viewpoint in the form of an article or well-written letter, then by all means, send it to me and I will publish it here!)

So, what's here?

Mike Nichols wrote a nice piece on new versus old pagans -- its still has some valid points today, I believe.  The OTO's Version is written by a member of the OTO, and makes some interesting -- and controversial -- statements.  History of the Wiccan Religion is a shortish, thought-provoking essay.  History of Witchcraft is a scholarly look at this subject.  The essay, History of Wicca in England, is the text of a talk given in 1991.  Wiccan Roots is the text of a discussion that stemmed from the question 'Where did Wicca come from?'.

Last, but certainly not least, I have included a History of Gardnerianism and attached a section from a series of Wiccan Lessons.   This section is a fairly well-thought-out study of religion throughout history, culminating in the neo-pagan movement we see all around us today.

Enjoy your reading!
